A world of balls and assemblies, country dances and reels; a world where fun and flirtation were possible within a strict code of conduct. But what was the etiquette? What were the steps and how did Jane and her heroines fare on the dance floor?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;A Christmas with Jane Austen&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.17.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Christmas goes out in fine style \u2013 with Twelfth night. Christmas day was the morning of the season\u2019 New Year\u2019s day the middle of it, or noon; Twelfth night is the night, brilliant with innumerable planets of Twelfth-cakes\u201d<\/em>.<br \/> Leigh Hunt 1784-1859<\/p>\n<p>Using opinions of the day, Austen family letters and excerpts from \u201c<em>Emma<\/em>\u201d, we get to experience a \u201c<em>Jane Austen<\/em>\u201d Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;She Wrote About What She Knew&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.17.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThree of four families in a country village is the very thing to work on\u2026..\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0Jane Austen. 1814<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;The Last Letters&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.17.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Throughout her life, Jane Austen was a prolific writer of letters \u2013 to her family, friends and acquaintances. Sharing the minutiae of her everyday life, her thoughts and opinions, her wit and her humour.<\/p>\n<p>Devised as a commemorative tribute for the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen\u2019s death in 1817, it\u2019s an opportunity to hear Jane speak through the letters she wrote in the last months of her life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;Emily Bront\u00eb \u2013 a Child of the Moors&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.17.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>My sister Emily loved the moors. Liberty was the breath of Emily\u2019s nostrils; without it she perished<\/em>\u201d. Charlotte Bront\u00eb<\/p>\n<p>Emily Bronte 1818 &#8211; 1848 was a member of one of the most famous literary families in English literature. Using material contained in \u201cThe Life of Charlotte Bront\u00eb\u201d by Elizabeth Gaskell, the few remaining diary papers written by Emily and her sisters and then her published work \u2013 her poetry and the magnificent Wuthering Heights; this spoken word performance evokes something of her world, her work and tragically short life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;Picnic At Hanging Rock&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.17.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>An evocative, spoken interpretation of Joan Lindsay\u2019s classic Australian novel. Recounted as a recollection from the French Mistress, Mme de Poitiers, with all the voices that made the original novel so special.<\/p>\n<p>As Miranda always said\u2026.<em>\u201deverything begins and ends at exactly the right time and place\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;Voices of Remembrance&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.17.2&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>As a narrator of audio books, I\u2019ve recorded many over the years. But two books in particular have stayed in my mind, long after the recordings were finished. Both looking back at the experiences of those who served in WW1 and those who stayed behind. Both looking forward to a world without war. Two distinctive voices; one Australian in \u201c<em>The Anzacs<\/em>\u201d by Patsy Adam-Smith and one British in \u201c<em>Testament of Youth<\/em>\u201d by Vera Brittain.
